These terms govern your booking with 4Drive Finland. By completing a reservation through our website, you accept these conditions in full. Please read carefully before proceeding with any transaction.
4Drive Finland operates an online booking platform that connects customers with local rental companies across Finland. We facilitate reservations and process advance payments. The actual rental agreement is a separate contract between you and the issuing company, signed at the time you collect the vehicle.
Each rental company sets its own operational policies, fleet specifications, and damage protocols. Your voucher includes the contact details for the company handling your booking. Any queries about vehicle condition, pick-up logistics, or on-road assistance should be directed to them during your rental period.
Our role is limited to reservation management and payment processing. We do not own or maintain the vehicles. Standards and procedures may vary between different suppliers in different cities, though all partners meet our baseline requirements for service quality.
When you complete a booking on our website, you receive a confirmation voucher by email. This voucher is not the rental agreement itself. The binding rental contract is signed at the collection point - either at a service desk, terminal location, or upon delivery to your hotel, depending on the company assigned to your booking.
The rental agreement will list the vehicle registration, any pre-existing damage, fuel level, and specific terms applicable to that vehicle. You must inspect the vehicle carefully at handover. Any scratches, dents, or interior wear should be documented in the agreement before you drive away.
Terms regarding mileage limits, permitted driving areas, insurance excess, and additional charges are stated in the voucher and confirmed in the rental contract. Discrepancies should be raised immediately with the issuing company. Your voucher includes their direct contact details for such matters.
At the time of booking, you pay an advance online by debit or credit card. This advance secures your reservation and is non-refundable outside the cancellation windows specified in your confirmation. Cash payments are not accepted online.
The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle. Payment methods for the balance depend on the specific vehicle you have booked, not on vehicle class. Your voucher and the booking confirmation state whether you may settle the balance with a debit card, cash, or credit card.
If you do not hold a credit card and your booking specifies credit card payment for the balance, consider raising the daily limit on your debit card. Requirements vary by vehicle and issuing company. Check your voucher carefully before arrival.
Most rental companies will block a deposit on a debit or credit card at the time of collection. This is a hold, not a charge, and the amount depends on the vehicle you have booked. The block is released after you return the vehicle undamaged and refuelled, typically within seven to fourteen days depending on your card issuer.
Deposit requirements and the card type accepted for the hold are listed in your voucher. Some vehicles may require a credit card for the deposit block, while others accept debit cards. The excess amount - the maximum you may pay in the event of damage - is separate from the deposit and is also stated in the voucher and rental agreement.
No-deposit options are available on selected vehicles. This means the rental company will not place a hold on your card. However, the excess still applies, and you remain liable for damage up to that stated amount. No-deposit availability is independent of insurance or coverage levels.
All drivers must present a valid driving licence at collection. Licences issued outside the EU should be accompanied by an International Driving Permit, though this is a recommendation rather than a legal requirement in Finland. The rental company reserves the right to refuse a licence they cannot verify.
Additional drivers must be named at the time of booking or added at the rental desk. There is a fee for each extra driver, payable directly to the rental company. Only listed drivers are covered under the terms of the rental agreement. Allowing an unlisted person to drive voids your insurance and makes you liable for all damage.
Minimum age and experience requirements are set by the issuing company and vary by vehicle type. Your voucher specifies whether any restrictions apply to your booking. Bring all requested documents - licence, IDP if applicable, booking voucher, and the payment card used for the advance - to the collection point.
You must drive on public roads and observe all local traffic regulations. Speed limits in Finland are 50 km/h in urban areas, 80-100 km/h on rural roads, and 120 km/h on motorways. Right-hand traffic applies. Winter tyres are mandatory from December through February; studded tyres are common from November to March and included in season at no extra charge.
Cross-border travel to Sweden and Norway is usually permitted with advance notice. You must inform us or the rental company before departure, and the permission will be noted in your rental agreement. Ferry crossings to Estonia or Aland require written approval and must be arranged in advance. Fees for cross-border permissions are payable at collection.
Off-road driving, racing, towing without permission, and transporting hazardous materials are prohibited. Smoking in the vehicle incurs a cleaning charge. Pets require prior agreement and may attract an additional fee. Subletting the vehicle or using it for commercial purposes without written consent voids the rental agreement and all associated cover.
You may cancel or modify your booking by contacting [email protected]. Cancellations made more than seven days before collection are eligible for a refund of the advance minus an administrative fee. Cancellations within seven days forfeit the advance. No-show at collection results in full forfeiture with no refund.
Changes to pick-up time, location, or vehicle category are subject to availability and may incur rebooking fees. Requests to extend the rental period must be made directly to the rental company, not to 4Drive Finland. Extensions are subject to vehicle availability and additional charges, payable on-site.
We reserve the right to cancel a booking if we cannot fulfil it due to fleet unavailability, force majeure, or other circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, we will offer a full refund of the advance or an alternative vehicle of equivalent or higher specification at no extra cost.
4Drive Finland is not liable for delays, breakdowns, accidents, fines, or any incident occurring during the rental period. Your contract is with the issuing rental company, and claims should be directed to them. We provide the booking platform only and do not assume responsibility for the condition, performance, or suitability of any vehicle.
You are responsible for all fines, tolls, and charges incurred during your rental. Although Finland has no toll roads or vignette systems, parking fines and traffic violations will be forwarded to you by the rental company, often with an administrative handling fee added.
Loss or damage to the vehicle, theft of items from the vehicle, or injury sustained while using the vehicle are matters between you and the rental company. Refer to the rental agreement and the insurance terms provided at collection for details of cover and excess amounts.
If you experience any issue during your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details in your voucher. Most problems - vehicle faults, documentation errors, or service concerns - can be resolved on the spot or during the rental period.
For unresolved matters or complaints about the booking process, email [email protected] with your booking reference, dates, and a clear description of the issue. We will review your case and liaise with the rental company where appropriate. Our office hours are Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+2).
We aim to respond to all emails within two business days. Complex cases involving damage disputes or insurance claims may require longer to investigate, as we must coordinate with the rental company and review supporting documentation.
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Finland. Any dispute arising from your booking or use of our website falls under the jurisdiction of Finnish courts. The rental agreement you sign with the local company is also subject to Finnish law.
By proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Updates to these terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
