Transparent payment process from booking to pickup
When you book through 4Drive Finland, you pay a booking advance online by card. This secures your reservation and confirms the vehicle. The advance is processed immediately through our secure payment gateway. Cash is not accepted for online bookings. The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle at the rental desk, according to the method specified in your voucher. The voucher you receive after booking states the exact amount due at pickup and the accepted payment methods for that particular vehicle. All amounts are confirmed at the time of booking, so you know exactly what to expect.
The split-payment structure allows flexibility while guaranteeing your reservation. The local rental company in each city handles the final payment and vehicle handover. Your rental agreement is signed at pickup, and the company's contact details appear in your voucher. Delivery options - counter pickup at the terminal or delivery to your hotel - depend on the company and the location you selected during booking.
We accept the following international payment cards for your online booking advance. All transactions are processed in euros (EUR) and settled through our secure payment partner.
Visa debit and credit cards issued worldwide are accepted for the booking advance. Ensure your card is enabled for international online transactions.
Mastercard debit and credit cards process smoothly through our payment gateway. Check with your bank that online purchases are permitted.
Maestro debit cards are widely used across Europe and accepted for advance payments. Verify your daily spending limit before booking.
All payments are processed in euros. Your bank may apply a conversion fee if your card is issued in another currency.
The balance due at pickup can typically be paid by debit card or cash, depending on what the voucher specifies for your chosen vehicle. Payment method availability is determined by the rental company and the specific car, not by vehicle class. Your voucher clearly states which methods are accepted. For example, one Toyota Corolla might accept debit cards and cash, while another model may require a credit card for the deposit hold. Always check your voucher before arrival.
All transactions at the rental desk are processed in euros. If you plan to pay the balance in cash, withdraw sufficient funds beforehand, as ATM availability near some pickup points can be limited. Fuel stations along Ring Road III and Tuusulanvayla accept cards, so topping up the tank before return is simple. If your voucher states that a debit card is accepted, ensure your card has an adequate daily limit to cover both the balance and any optional extras such as a second driver, child seat, or cross-border permission for Sweden and Norway.
Some vehicles in our inventory are marked as available without a deposit hold and without the need for a credit card. This marking applies to specific vehicles and is displayed clearly during the booking process. Requirements vary from car to car, not by class - one compact model might need a deposit, another might not. The "no deposit" label means the rental company will not place a hold on your card for security purposes. This is a separate matter from excess liability, which remains as stated in the rental terms.
If you do not have a credit card, look for vehicles marked accordingly or consider raising the spending limit on your debit card to meet the deposit requirement for a wider selection of cars. Contact your bank in advance to arrange this. For any questions about which vehicles suit your payment options, reach out via our contact page or email [email protected]. We can guide you to suitable vehicles based on your circumstances.
If the vehicle you select requires a deposit hold, the amount and estimated refund timeline are shown during booking and confirmed in your voucher. The deposit is held - not charged - by the local rental company when you collect the car. It is released after you return the vehicle, provided there is no damage or outstanding fuel charge. Refund processing times depend on the rental company and your card issuer. Typically, holds are released within 7 to 14 days, but some banks take longer to reflect the reversal in your account balance.
Damage noted during the vehicle inspection at pickup is recorded in the rental agreement, and any new damage found at return may be deducted from the deposit hold. The rental company makes the final decision on deductions. Keep your copy of the rental agreement and take photos at pickup and return to document the vehicle condition. If you have questions about a deposit hold or refund, contact the rental company directly using the details in your voucher.
Cancellation terms for your booking are specified at the time of reservation and restated in your voucher. Many bookings include a free cancellation window, allowing you to cancel up to a certain point before pickup and receive a full refund of the advance. If you cancel within this window, the advance is returned to the card you used for payment, usually within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank. Cancellations made outside the free window may result in partial or no refund, as outlined in your booking confirmation.
To cancel, log in to your booking or contact us at [email protected] with your reservation reference. We process cancellation requests promptly and notify you once the refund has been initiated. For detailed terms, refer to our terms and conditions page. If you need to modify your booking - such as changing the pickup time or adding ferry bookings to Estonia or Aland - get in touch as early as possible. Some changes can be accommodated without cancellation fees.
